De Affaire Festival (solo show)
Nijmegen – Netherlands
Ólafur Arnalds played at De Affaire Festival in Nijmegen, Netherlands on 16th Jul 2011, and you can let us know what you thought of the event if you attended, or share some photos with us and other fans.
I loved how different the atmosphere was last sunday: both very beautiful, but one on a rainy night, the other on a sunny afternoon. Whereas saturday was really special because you/Ólafur was so nervous, it was amazing to see how the ideas from sunday had grown already by saturday. So you could say that the 2nd show was better and more solid, in terms of music. Pretty sure there should be a rock-solid album by the end of the tour ;)
Enjoyed the sunday session very much, thank you. Apart from the music, I appreciated your comments on the process. Funny detail were the people peeking through the window behind your back.
Hi Oli, Really intriguing event. Great location, full of atmosphere , if not the best acoustics ;-) It was very illuminating to watch how you developed your ideas. It certainly seemed to work well, particularly with the last two pieces. I will look forward to hearing how this develops through the later shows and on to the new album itself.
Sometimes something really special and amazing happens and you are fully aware that it's happening. I had that last night.
Such a great concept, I enjoyed every second of it :)
Hi Olafur,
I just came back from your show, loved it. Nice way of creating new tunes with some participation from the audience and improvisation from your side. Great venue as well by the way.
Looking forward to the new album!
Hey Oli,
I can only find you on the festival schedule of De Affaire on Sunday, not Saturday and Monday. Is there any more information on this anywhere?
Hi Oli,
Soundfiles for Nijmegen are in your inbox at your email. Hope you find them in time ;-) Have fun
Paul
What format do you want the sound recordings from the tour venues? I will see if I can get you something for Nijmegen.
you 're a genius!
I really hope that you arrived in Argentina.
That's a nice idea Paul... :) If anyone in those cities has or wants to make any samples feel free to send me! It'll be hard for me to find time to go out myself and record them...
sounds good! hope to be able to be there
Hi Oli,
Love the concept ;-)
As a general point of reference maybe you could loop a sound that is specific to each of the three locations Gent, Nijmegen and Berlin. It might be a certain bell, or the sound of a tram, an underground train door or just the sounds of people talkng in the main square or whatever, just something local.
